Trichotillomania
Hamztec’s work includes research and development of devices for the treatment of Trichotillomania (hair pulling) and related repetitive body-focused disorders including skin-picking and nail/finger biting. We are currently developing a device (patent received) which monitors the distance between the destructive and the effected area which monitors, alarms (vibration and/or sound) and logs event data which are downloadable for statistical and graphic analysis. We have received two NIH STTR grants in partnership with the University of Michigan School of Social Work, and are currently developing, Under our Phase II grant, a prototype for clinical trials to start in early 2012. For more information on Trichotillomania and skin-picking, go to the Trichotillomania Learning Center (TLC) at www.trich.org. You can join TLC here.
